There was a win across the world for women last night, Kathryn Bigelow won best director and was the first woman to do so! I didn’t see the The Hurt Locker but I’m happy for the win.

I thought it was great that Biglow sat right in front of James Cameron, fellow nominee and ex-husband. Maybe I was reading into things, but I felt some tension on the other side of the television screen. To know that your film was better than your ex-husband’s must have felt great, especially when said film is Avatar. (more…)

Sorry for the Academy Award 2010 overload, but this YouTube video is necessary viewing. Kevin James is always good for a laugh.

Do you like the Internet?  I hope so, considering you’re using it, but have you ever been talking about the Internet and realize that you don’t know anything?  Well here is your answer… the one… the only…

That’s right! This is a list that all must see to be relevant on the Internet. Also, this is the second list… SECOND! So get to it people of the Web, you don’t want to be loser now do you? DO YOU?!  Oh yeah, here’s the first.

This was by far one of my favorite parts of The Academy Awards last night. Props to Ben Stiller for his convincing Avatar costume, and kudos to “the academy” for not voting Avatar as the best picture of the year.

Sorry this video sucks, YouTube doesn’t have a clear version of this yet.

Oh my...naked.

Oh my...naked.

In Sydney, Australia a photo shoot was taken at the Sydney Opera House, using 5,200 people. Now this may not sound out of the ordinary, but the fact that those 5,200 people were posing in their birthday suits is.

Yes, that’s right…they were all naked! What’s even odder is that the photographer, Spencer Tunick, specializes in doing these “nude group photos in public spaces.” According to msnbc.com he had these people posing in different positions, outside, for over an hour. A little kinky if you ask me.

I’m sure his work is great, considering he is known for it, but the idea of asking 5,200 people to strip down so that they can all stand together and have pictures taken in a public area, is just beyond me. I know it’s supposed to be “art” and everything, but sorry Tunick, I don’t get the point. To each his own I guess.

The Bachelor is the new Real World

Once upon a time, MTV’s the Real World was a societal and pop culture icon.  Then it turned into a sloppy, drunk, orgy for any bottom feeder trying to snatch their 15-minutes of fame.

IMDB.com tells me the show is now in it’s 23rd season in our nation’s capital.  How this has happened, baffles me to no end.  The last good season I can remember was Season 9: New Orleans and that’s partly because I was in love with Danny.  Nevertheless, the show has continued and apparently has an audience with nothing better to do with their time.

This brings me to the Bachelor on ABC.  Another show that might have been good once with slightly desperate women bidding for the attention of the re-incarnation of Ken Barbie.  Now we have slutty, pathetic and flat out insulting represenatations of women throwing themselves at a guy they won’t end up marrying anyways.

So to Jake the Pilot and ABC: bleep off.  You’re no American Hero.
