In a news conference held in London today, author J.K. Rowling of “Harry Potter” fame announced the launch of a site called Pottermore. Many fanatics, myself included, were hoping this would be yet another installment in the Potter franchise.  In a way, it is. Pottermore is the latest initiative for the e-book revolution, marketed at what Rowling refers to as “the digital generation.”

This announcement has been a long time coming, as the demand for an electronic version of the best-selling “Harry Potter” series has only grown with the popularization of devices like the Kindle and the Nook. Rowling has been reluctant in the past to make such a move for fear of piracy, but this is a site that further establishes “Harry Potter” as a brand.
