“There is only one God, and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death. Not today.” –Syrio Forel, The First Sword of Braavos.

This is the newly released music video for Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” off her Grammy-nominated hit album “Teenage Dream.” I’ve been keeping track of the men featured in Katy’s videos who meet an untimely death–there have been two so far. (See: “Thinking of You,” which is my all-time favorite.) This time it’s Mexican heartthrob, Diego Luna, that gets the honor. Because let’s face it: the only way Katy would lose a man is by way of his demise.

“I think about death a lot, like I think we all do. I don’t think of suicide as an option, but as fun. It’s an interesting idea that you can control how you go. It’s this thing that’s looming, and you can control it.” – Ryan Gosling

Normally in a post about the Forever 27 club, I would try to crack a joke about how it shouldn’t be confused with Forever 21.  However, it saddens me to report that British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead Saturday in her London flat at the age of 27.  Since I’ve already mentioned the number two times, you may be wondering what the significance of 27 is.

Let me explain: in the music industry there seems to be a strange “curse” involving famous musicians that have died at the age of 27.  Members of the 27 club include Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, and, now, Amy Winehouse.  Since so many musicians have died at this age, there are articles, websites, and even books that pay tribute to what has been dubbed the “Forever 27 Club” or the “27 Club” for short.
