Okay, yes, I am like every other girl and enjoy blasting Taylor Swift at unhealthy volumes with the windows rolled down.  Does that mean she’s actually talented enough for all the recognition she gets?  Absolutely not.  Think about this: Taylor’s first single came out in 2006 when Taylor was 16.  Taylor’s most recent album, “Speak Now,” was released when she was 20.  Between this period her voice and songs have reflected zero growth.  For this reason, I am not a supporter of Taylor Swift taking home the Entertainer of the Year award for the second time at the Country Music Awards last week.  Besides the fact that she also had a dreadfully boring performance.

But on a better note, Carrie Underwood’s outfits.  Oh wait, still a bad note.  From a combination of cabaret and Michael Jackson to a green gown taken straight from the Renaissance, Carrie was not on her game.  Check out all of the star’s outfits from the night here.

But in all seriousness, the night did have some great moments.  A few for the books? Eric Church gave a great performance of his new song “Drink In My Hand.” Faith Hill returned to the CMA stage for the first time in a while. Jason Aldean took home Album of the Year for “My Kinda Party” and Musical Event of the Year for his performance with Kelly Clarkson on “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

The days of Country music defining itself by mandolins and banjos are over.  With many thanks to Country-Pop crossover acts such as Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum, the country music audience has grown exponentially in the past years.  On November 9, the 45th CMA Awards  will air live on ABC at 8/7c.  For the fourth consecutive year, Carrie Underwood will host the event with Brad Paisley.

The highest honor one can win at the CMAs is Entertainer of the Year. You see, selling albums is only half of the deal to them; the Country music scene thrives on live shows, summer tours and TV specials. Up for Entertainer of the Year this year are Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban.  Although Paisley, Swift and Urban have won in past years, you can expect performances from all five nominees.

So stayed tuned for a recap after the show airs.  Because if there’s anything I love talking about more then Dubstep, Electronic music, and British singers, it’s Country music.

With their new album “Own the Night” just released on September 13, Lady Antebellum is nominated for Vocal Group of the Year.  Here is the album’s second single “We Owned the Night”:
