Reality television has consistently been a source of entertainment since its origin. These shows typically tell stories of love, camaraderie, competition or even antagonism. Shows like “American Idol,” “America’s Got Talent” and more recently “The Voice” and “X Factor,”  have made it their job to seek out and promote new musical talent. But, recently, other reality television shows have made it their job to assist their viewers in musical discovery.

“The Real World,” a veteran in the reality TV world, has picked up a new archetype in their casting. Normally, the “Real World” casting goes like this: a gay guy, a Black guy, a slutty girl, and an athletic guy with a few other characters mixed in. In recent seasons, however, the show has chosen at least one musically adroit member to participate in the show and these cast members have taken full advantage of the exposure that they have received. A few of the musically gifted recruits include Sahar from “Real World: New Orleans” as well as Josh and Erika from “Real World: D.C.”

Now, “The Real World” has begun its 26th season, and cast member and talented vocalist, Alexandra Govere, has wasted no time bringing her music career to the TV screen. Govere hosted a band practice at the “Real World: San Diego” house during which she was accompanied by a few acoustic guitars. Her voice is very unique in its sound, and its strength gives her the ability to easily sing a capella. Her music can be found on her YouTube page.
