New Yorkers and Syracuse students, be on the lookout for more options in the wine aisle at Wegmans. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has approved a law that will require fewer regulations for wineries in the state. Some of the changes include less paper work, now allowing farm wineries to apply for just one annual permit. With wine sales accounting for $420 million a year, and an economic impact of $3.76 billion, wine is a big deal. Inspired by this information, check out some delicious drinks that include wine.

1 ¼ oz. Tequila, white
1 oz. Triple Sec
1 ¼ oz. Wine, red
1 dash of lime juice
6 ½ oz. Sour Miz
1 splash of Sprite.
Mix these ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice for a tangy but sweet mix straight from the desert. Then strain the drink into a margarita glass rimmed with salt. Similar to a margarita, enjoy it this summer with some chips, guacamole and salsa.
Sexy Rocket Fuel
2 parts coconut rum
1 part 151 proof rum
2 part pineapple rum
4 parts wine, white
1 part grenadine
2 parts pineapple juice
I’m a bit unsure about the name, but this drink definitely sounds good. Combine all ingredients in a pitcher/red cup and enjoy!
Sangria Especiale
1/2 qt. Champagne
4 oz. Cognac
4 oz. Gin
1 qt. Wine, red
2 1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
3 oz. Orange Juice
1/2 Cup Sugar
Of course, Sangria is a must, but this is one recipe that will get you hammered. Pour these ingredients over ice into a punch bowl, then slice lemons and oranges and float them on top for a nice garnish.
