Wait-there are actually good things on Broadway?

It feels as though the past year or so has just been full of every good show closing. When I went home for winter break the only shows I had any interest in were ones that I had already seen. Even over spring break, my only venture into Times Square involved seeing the epic fail that is Spiderman (more on that another day.)

But now there are a whole bunch of kickass revivals and new plays and musicals coloring my favorite place in New York City. It’s going to be a theatre-filled summer. Here are 10 (count ‘em, 10) shows that I’m looking forward to seeing post grad in May. (Besides HAIR of course.)

  1. Anything Goes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG54YlBbZi8
  2. Arcadia My main man Raul Esparza in this play, there’s no way I’d be missing out on that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlC3MWZPEa4
  3. Catch Me If You Can Anyone watch Gossip Girl? The sexy Aaron Tveit is in this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta8rhE5x0YQ
  4. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Daniel Radcliffe! And this time he isn’t naked! http://youtu.be/qRVs1CWOlwQ
  5. Jerusalem Pretty sure Mark Rylance  is one of the most brilliant actors that I have ever seen perform and crush-worthy John Gallagher Jr is in this too! Um, yes please? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhx3D4chJTA
  6. Priscilla Queen of the Desert: Madonna songs, drag queens, and Will Swenson? Sign us up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZbj9g6OO-U
  7.  Sister Act I saw this in London, I enjoyed it… it was fun and heartwarming and happy… but it just wasn’t the same without Whoopi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXTNNViTyiY
  8. Book of Mormon From the makers of South Park, I wouldn’t expect any less than the most offensive, hilarious, hottest ticket of the year. Hope it’s not too sold out because this show is number one on my list! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNVL_XslTeU
  9. Warhorse Saw this in London as well… a beautiful show. Pretty sure ½ the audience was crying by the end (yes, that’s a good thing!) The coolest part, by far was the puppetry. Just a few minutes in you forget that there are people working it and you think there’s actually a horse on stage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY5YMshpCcw
  10. Wonderland I’m not sure what I think about this show, so I won’t judge till I go see it. But good or bad, I know that hearing Janet Decal’s voice will make it worth every penny (of a student rush priced ticket, of course.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbDHhFt563U

  1. […] Spotify. Um, I don’t really need the world to see when I’m indulging in my guilty pleasure of Broadway musicals or Disney soundtracks.  No thanks, […]
