It’s now been a month since John Galliano was first in the news for verbally assaulting a couple at a Paris café. As soon as the story broke, he was fired as creative director at Dior. After years at the top of the fashion ladder with no scandals to speak of, he was part of a media circus completely unrelated to his abilities as a designer.

The industry split between those who came in his defense and prosecutors. In his defense, people argued that his inebriation was to blame and showed uncharacteristic aggression and racism. Whereas Natalie Portman, the face of Dior Chérie fragrance, broke all ties with Galliano and expressed her revolt at his comments.

Now, a month later, Galliano has gone to rehab for his documented alcohol addiction. He was seen at LAX last week where reporters harassed him. Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, the largest luxury group in the world that owns Dior as well as John Galliano’s namesake label, has made yet another executive decision. John Galliano has been fired from his own label, which leaves him well out of a job and makes him a black sheep in the industry.

When considering the amount of influence and power the group has, I doubt Galliano will be able to make a comeback anytime soon. I guess only time will tell what happens to his career.
