Boys will be boys

Teenage girls and middle-aged mothers all over the country will find themselves in a state of elation this summer as New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys will embark on a joint summer tour spanning North America. Proving to naysayers everywhere that boy band fever is still alive and well, the NKOTBSB tour is a foray into a different realm of musical nostalgia.

Reunion tours have proven to be a powerful money-maker for groups like Fleetwood Mac and The Spice Girls in recent years, so it makes sense that these two boy bands want to jump on the band wagon.

Now, I can’t quite decide how I feel about this show. On one hand, both of these groups have matured far beyond what they once were. Backstreet was so huge because they sang about issues that teen girls “could totally relate to.” At the same time, the cult following generated from the fusion of these two groups could very well sell out arenas all over the country.

So if the screaming teenage girl in you is at all interested in seeing the boys of Backstreet all grown up and mingling with their matured counterparts, check out the official tour site for all you
