It’s something to talk about when a curvy woman feels comfortable with her body on and off screen. In the words of Bonnie Raitt, let’s give em’ something to talk about. The beautiful and curvaceous Mad Men star, Christina Hendricks, has been giving people plenty to talk about for quite some time. Throughout her career, Hendricks’ weight has been an issue, but I’m unsure as to why. GOLLY GEE, there’s an actress in Hollywood who weighs more than 130lbs.– let’s call the police. People should be praising her for setting a good example for woman everywhere, not speculating her weight or questioning how she could possibly be happy weighing as much as she does.

Hendricks works her ass off playing Joan Holloway, the office sex pot who keeps everyone in check. However, instead of commenting on her acting chops, all people have to talk about is her weight. In Hollywood, it seems like the hour glass figure gets plenty of attention, but not necessarily good attention. I’m looking forward to the day when that changes. Hendricks comments that she felt even sexier when she was 15 pounds heavier and isn’t even the slightest bit ashamed to say it. Fashion critic Cathy Horyn comments “You don’t put a big girl in a big dress” in a New York Times story about the dress Hendricks wore to the Golden Globes. Apparently, Horyn doesn’t understand that beauty comes in many different shapes and sizes. I (and I’m sure many others) wish there were more women like Christina Hendricks and less like Cathy Horyn in this world. Rock on Hendricks.
