Alexander Wang is what can be called a fashion darling. A fashion darling is an individual that the industry loves; they are usually new and upcoming, but seemed to be backed by everyone. Editors go to their shows, they get nominated for awards right off the bat, and they are friends with all the models and party with the socialites. They seem to do no wrong. Well, Alexander Wang is the quintessential darling, and it doesn’t hurt that he has the talent to back it up.

He dropped out of Parsons his sophomore year, and launched his first capsule collection of only 9 pieces, and Barney’s picked it up. That is almost unthinkable, which only made everyone stare harder. Everyone wanted to know how this happened, and to see if he had the talent to deserve such praise. Well, he did.

His collections have all been highly sought after ever since, and he has managed to keep his star rising while building a solid fan base. He recently opened his first flagship store in Soho. So far, he designs two collections, T by Alexander Wang, and his namesake, Alexander Wang. His style is slouchy, downtown chic and effortless, which explains why so many models love his clothes. He also has a tendency to make womenswear with lines of menswear, which only make his work and incredible tailoring so desirable.

This year, he is launching his first Alexander Wang Menswear collection. There is high anticipation, especially after he’s already won the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designer’s of America) and GQ’s award for Best New Menswear Designer Award for T by Alexander Wang.
