Britney Spears: The Blushing Bride in “Hold it Against Me”

We’ve been anticipating the video premiere, “Hold it Against Me,” from Britney Spears’ newly revealed album, “Femme Fatale” (JERK reviewed it here).

Spears also revealed the clip on Twitter, writing: ‘Without further adieu, I present my video for Hold It Against Me, directed by the wonderful Jonas Akerlund… Hope you guys love it as much as I do. If you didn’t I’ll kung fu kick you like I did to that chick in the video.’

The video begins with the Earth being struck by an asteroid in 2011. Bright, flashing lights fill the video, and that’s when Spears’s familiar intro bursts through the speakers. Spears even sneak peeks her new fragrance, Radiance. Despite her first two failed marriages, Spears acts like a blushing bride for a third time in this video. Then, her never-failing choreography takes over the remainder of the video.

Some parts of the video do not make sense though, including the fact that her dancers do not have eyes.

Either way, the video is an excellent comeback, not to mention the compelling cat fight with her own mirror image: representative of the public-Britney v. the private-Britney.

Watch the video here:

very interesting concept for a video…looks cool. maybe her most memorable since “Toxic”?

  2. Jake says:

I think the faceless dancers are supposed to symbolize either the faceless fans or how blind the public was when it came to her head-shaving-cry-for-help era.

The rise and fall of Britney. I think it’s her best since Toxic.
