Sinless Saturday Drinks (We Can’t Make You Feel Better About All the Other Stuff You Did)

I consider myself to be a pretty healthy person. I elliptical everyday, take a multi-vitamin religiously, and eat salads like it’s my J-O-B. But I’m no saint. I love ice cream more than anybody I know. And my pint of choice on the weekends is not Ben & Jerry’s.

Alcohol is fun, sometimes tasty, and relaxing after a long week. I know drinking some red wine now and again may have its benefits. However, I have yet to see how beer pong can prevent breast cancer or rounds of vodka shots can prevent osteoporosis.

What I do know is that alcohol is empty calories. Straight up. If you frequently drink a lot, it is more likely than not that you’re going to get a booze belly. After four years of college and three months of graduate school, I’ve tried my fair share of drinks and cocktail concoctions on the quest for feeling tipsy in the head without undesirably tipping the scale.

Here, my of-age colleagues, are some of my favorite “healthier” (a.k.a. less waistline widening) alcoholic beverages, and none of them involve mixing alcohol with water:

  1. Jack Daniels and Diet Coke (a.k.a. Jack and Diet)
  2. Bud Light with Lime
  3. Seagram’s Sweet Tea Vodka and Diet Snapple Lemonade Iced Tea
  4. Dragon Berry Bacardi and Pineapple-Orange Crystal Light

P.S. Who knew beer pong was so organized?
