Double Fine, the video game studio behind titles like “Psychonauts” and “Brütal Legend” released a war game called “Trenched” last week on Xbox Live. While I have yet to play “Trenched,” it has received fantastic reviews from critics, making me me want to buy it even more.
The game is set in an alternate reality World War I complete with robot walkers, a strange radio broadcast that blows up people’s brains and television programming that drives the antagonist to the point of insanity. However, “Trenched” isn’t your usual “Call of Duty” shoot ‘em up war game. Despite how violent the game may sound, it is apparently quite comical and full of witty dialogue. This is a refreshing trademark of Double Fine’s.
