It only seems fair that I use John for my song of the week since I just ranted about him in another article.
This is my favorite (or most listened to) song on his recent album, Born and Raised, and it just so happens that the title is the same as the album. The lyrics are realistic and hit everyone. Meeting new people and forgetting the old ones, growing up and moving on, etc. etc. etc. That bittersweet life changing stuff right?
I still have dreams, they’re not the same
They don’t fly as high as they used to
I saw my friend, he’s in my head
And he said, “You don’t remember me, do you?”
Then all at once it gets hard to take
It gets hard to fake what I won’t be
Cause one of these days I’ll be born and raised
And it’s such a waste to grow up lonely
